What does Farmerhs Afric do?
We are a social enterprise that is solving rural youth unemployment by crowdfunding agriculture value chain jobs for Africa’s youth at the same time providing inventory financing and growth support to small retailers (grocers) who lack support from banks and microfinance companies.
Who is an ideal supporter for farmerhs Afric?
An ideal supporter is anyone who is at least 18years old with sound mind and interested in social impact and profit at the same time.
Are my payment data and details protected?
Yes, we use secure payment processing from stripe to ensure all data of supporters are secured and protected
How does the process work?
Supporting a value chain project is simple.
  • Create your account on www.farmerhs-afric.com as a supporter and log into your profile.
  • Click on value chain projects that are OPEN and choose the number of units you would like to support by clicking the “+” sign.
  • Click on proceed to make payment . The page will direct you to Checkout project then you will have to click on Pay with card. You can pay with a debit card or credit card (Mastercard, visa card etc).
  • After you have made the payment, you will see the details of payment under transaction on your profile. We will upload the contract under Transactions on your profile and send you copy on your email.
What is the minimum and maximum number of value chain projects that I can support?
The minimum is One unit and there is no maximum. For each agriculture value chain project, the available quantity will be stated under the project for supporters to choose the quantity they wish to support. You can support as many units as you wish. More units means more profit for you and more resources for our partner youth farmers and grocers.
Can I support multiple value chain projects?
YES! You can support multiple value chain projects when they are available.
How do I receive my funds and returns on support (profit) at the end of the value chain project?
At the end of the agriculture value chain project cycle, the support and return on support (profit) will be transferred to your bank account.
Do I own the value chain project forever?
No, at the end of the agriculture value chain Project/ farming cycle, you will be paid your support and the returns on support. Your ownership in the value chain project/ farm expires after each project cycle/season.
Can I support the projects from any country?
Yes, you can support from anywhere in the world.
Are the value chain projects insured?
Yes, the value chain projects are insured with our insurance partners to protect the invested capital. In the event of any loss due to (flood, fire, drought, lower yields, pest outbreak, damage to produce during storage etc) the invested principal will be paid to supporters.
Does the insurance cover the returns on support (profit)?
No, the insurance only protects the principal received from the supporter in the event of any loses.
Is the Farmerhs Afric 2 year capital backed with collateral?
No, The Farmerhs Afric 2 year capital is an unsecured loan. However, in the event of liquidation, supporters will be paid first from available resources before any other obligations.
Early stage companies have less assets and carry more risk and we encourange our supporters to keep that in mind.

RETAILERS FAQS


How much produce can I order?
The minimum quantity of produce that can be ordered is 1 Unit. There is no maximum limit. You can order as many units as you need.
What is the mode of payment?
Mobile money payment is preferred across any of the mobile money payment providers (MTN, Vodafone, Airtel-Tigo etc). Alternatively, you can also make a bank transfer.
How long does it take for ordered produce to be delivered?
Our standard delivery period is 5hrs-24hrs. In the event of any delay, we will give you advance notice.
Do you guarantee I will get quality produce when I make an order?
Yes, we verify all produce before sending them to our partner retailers(grocers). In the event of any damage during delivery a replacement/refund will be promptly made within 24hrs.

FARMERS FAQS


What group is the main target of Farmerhs Afric?
The main target group are Farmers from age 18 to 40. However, Farmers from age 40 and above will be supported too.
What is the minimum size of farm to qualify for support?
The minimum size is at least 1 hectare for a farm or 500 birds for poultry or 50 goats for livestock.
How much farm experience must I have to get support from farmerhs Afric?
At least 1 year experience in the respective area: crops cultivation, poultry or livestock rearing.
Could persons without prior farming experience be supported?
Inexperienced persons will undergo training for at least 1 farming cycle to qualify for support.
I do not have a farm land. can I get support to start my own farm?
Register as a farmer under Farmerhs Afric. After you login, go to your dashboard and click “create your own farm menu” and fill the details. You can also click “join farm” to join existing farms. Alternatively, we will arrange for a farmland for you in your region/district.
Can you provide market access for my already existing farm produce ?
Sure! We will provide you with premium markets and better prices.

TRANSPORTER FAQS


What is the minimum age to join as a transporter?
A transporter must be at least 18years old with a valid identity card.
What is the minimum and maximum delivery distance?
There is no minimum or maximum delivery distance. A transporter needs to check the distance for a particular delivery to decide to go for it or not.
How much experience should a transporter have?
At least 1 year driving experience with clean records
What are the language requirements?
A transporter must understand and communicate effectively in the local language of the delivery area in addition to the official national language.
I own delivery vans; can I register them on Farmerhs Afric?
Yes, you can register them, but we would have to independently verify each of the drivers.
